How Do We Find Jesus?
Today at Vacation Bible School we learned about Jesus walking on the water. Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water towards Jesus. The winds came and Peter looked away from Jesus. He was afraid. As Peter began to sink Jesus reached out His hand for Peter to grasp.
The Bible story teacher began to talk about an application from the story. She spoke about how Peter took His eyes off of Jesus and that’s why he began to sink. At that moment a five year old boy raised his hand and said, “How do we find Jesus?” (Without visually seeing Jesus he wasn’t sure how to follow him.)
I love inquisitive children! However, that is a surprisingly hard question to answer for a 5 year old. The teacher explained the best she could on the spur of the moment. Children aren’t afraid to ask the tough questions and we shouldn’t be either.
So how do we find Jesus? We get to know Him through His word, we receive His grace, we accept Him into our lives, we pray, we seek Him, and we pay attention to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
As we go about our day we see God in all that He’s created. God is seen in the miracles that happen each day- a baby is born, an illness is cured, a life is saved, and so much more. The Lord is living and active. He is with us wherever we go!
Jesus is here, there, and everywhere! He’s waiting to be found and followed!
