Glimmers of Hope

In a world where darkness is magnified it’s a blessing to witness kindness.
Glimmers of hope reveal themselves enlightening a dreary day. The smallest acts
hold large power as they bring light to the dreariest of places.
I’ve witnessed strangers show little acts of care that echo as they brighten the day of
another. I enjoyed the grandmotherly women who doted on my kids while we waited
in the grocery store line. My mood was lightened as a stranger uttered empathetic
and understanding words. Our car was stuck, a man saw our need, and he cleared
the parking lot so we could get by. During a women’s chaotic day she managed to
show patience and friendliness while doing her job.
Even better, I was blessed to see and enjoy friends and family spreading light. As my
child packed extra lunch for a co-worker who would otherwise not eat my heart was
touched. Thoughtful friends offered to give my kids and I a ride. A caring friend
called just to say,
“hi!”
One of my besties cleared her day to spend with me. I
arrived home and found beautiful flowers and a sweet note from my daughter. After
a long morning, my mom and I came home to the surprise of a lunch my child had
prepared. My sister called and gave me a pep-talk-cheer-up. So many moms in our
home school community invested their time in teaching and loving on my kids. My
children, who have become way too perceptive of my moods, were extra helpful and
loving when I needed it.
I have a tendency to see the storm and miss the rainbow it left behind. A song that
has always helped is, Count Your Blessings. In the midst of counting those blessings
my soul finds light.
May we each spread blessings all around us and count each one we receive.
