Entitled?

One of my greatest pet peeves is an entitlement mentality.

Entitlement occasionally visited our home. The difference between a want and a need was stressed. You need new shoes, but you want the most expensive pair on the market. You need clothes to wear but you want regular upgrades to the latest fashion. You need food but you want to go to your favorite restaurant. And the list goes on...

I love to indulge on occasion but that stopped when entitlement showed up. A temporary halt on "extras" was implemented. Working for wants was expected.

I tried to make a habit of volunteering with my kids. Meeting and helping people in real need shifted my children's attitudes.

The cure for entitlement: Gratitude and Giving! Look outward
